Ordering Square Demo Equipment

Purpose

This page explains who can order Square demo equipment, what it costs, and the exact steps to order it and get your software fees waived.

1. Who Can Order

For now, trainers only. Each trainer sets up a demo account and decides what demo hardware their team needs.

Not a trainer? Email Hayes (hayes@equippaymentsolutions.com) and cc Tyisha (tyisha@equippaymentsolutions.com) with your request and why you need it. They'll review it together.

2. What It Costs

Premium software plan (ordered through Square)	Waived for demo accounts, by request	Equip asks Square to waive your software fees. Forward your confirmation email to Tyisha (step 5 below) to start the waiver.
Hardware (ordered through Square)	You pay	Hardware is not free. You enter your payment information when you place the order.
Hardware from another retailer (Best Buy, Sam's Club, eBay)	You pay the retailer	You still need a demo account. The software gives you a code to link the device.
Software-only demo	No hardware cost	Order the software without hardware and use your smartphone to demo tap to pay.

3. How to Order (Trainers)

Use your regular sign-up link. Order demo equipment with the same link you were given for signing up merchants. You go through it just like a regular merchant account.
Choose the Premium plan. Premium lets you see and demo every feature a merchant could use, including the premium ones.
Name it "[Your Name]'s Demo." Use this exact format in the business name field, for example: Hayes Howell's Demo. Don't use a made-up restaurant or store name.
Enter your payment information when prompted.
Forward your confirmation email. Once the order is complete and you get the confirmation email, send it to Tyisha (tyisha@equippaymentsolutions.com) and cc Angela (angela@equippaymentsolutions.com). This is what starts your software fee waiver.

Don't skip step 5. Without your confirmation email, we can't request your software fee waiver.

4. Other Ways to Get Demo Hardware

Buy it elsewhere. Square hardware is also sold by other retailers (such as Best Buy or Sam's Club) and on sites like eBay.com.
You still need a demo account. The software gives you a code to link the device to your online account, so set up your demo account first.
Software only is fine. You can order the software without buying hardware. Most smartphones can demo tap to pay right on the screen.

5. Quick Answers

Do I need my own demo? Not if you're a rep. Your trainer holds the demo for your team.
My team needs more than one demo. Trainers can make the case to Hayes and Tyisha.
